Patar Simatupang has an engaging personality, and is a lecturer, trainer and speaker in Television Journalism, Communications, Leadership, Youth and consults with Integrated Media Development and Management. The Program Development Manager of the School for Broadcast Media, Jakarta, Indonesia also lectures in Television Journalism, News Presenting and Short Video Production at the School for Broadcast Media. Patar also teaches News Making Criminology and Investigative Journalism at the University of Indonesia and at many universities in Jakarta.

Prior to this teaching career, Patar was a trainer for the BBC World Service in Indonesia. Also, he was a reporter for Liputan 6, Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) by the name of Leonardo Patar. Over this time, he has moderated broadcasting and film events.

Beside subjects in the field of Television Journalism Patar, being a motivating speaker has spoken in various topics such as: Not Just a Pretty Face, Stand Up and Speak - Being Assertive, Self-promotion, Marketing Doesn't Cost a Thing and several topics for youth.
